CAA Oportunities, Activities, and Festivities

I couldn't really narrow this blog down to just one topic so let it suffice to say that my thoughts may be a little random here!!

Let's start with the internship opportunties for next year. I know Carolyn and Michal sent you some info about this opportunity and we've had plenty of people inquire...that's great. I want to encourage even more of you to look into this internship if you feel that camping or recreation may be where God's leading you..even if you are undecided at this point. Our current interns ROCK !! Today, Brent is in Cairo, Eqypt at Camp Wadi and Lowell is spending the day at Camp Woodlands, an overnight camp in Cleveland, GA where he's just hanging out and getting the feel of being on a staff with an overnight camp. We are continually trying to expose them to camping and ministry experiences so they can learn more about themselves and what ministry full-time looks like.

The whole team is very busy in many different arenas. As stated, Brent W., Brent C., and Jamey are in Egypt. The rest of us are working on either basketball league or camp brochure. After Thanksgiving, The Pit, interns and I will be heading to Colorado Springs for Christian Camp and Conference Association's annual convention. We are leading a seminar this year, entitled "What A Difference A Day Makes". At this conference, we meet up with a lot of camping friends across the country, learn new stuff from other seminars and get inspired from some amazing speakers. We have fun too!

Later this week, we all will be in a training called...Ubabalo....you have to ask Jay why it's called that, because I'm still unsure. Anyway, should be fun and should help us all be better trainers and leaders.

Lastly(maybe),

You better be coming to the Christmas Party!! It's all about flannel this year and I just finished my outfit. You can find flannel anywhere this year and it can be any pattern flannel, not just the traditional red and black checked! We will unveil the theme at the party and, of course, have fun catching up with you all.

Don't forget to RSVP so there will be plenty of food for the guys!

OK...really lastly now, pick up the book Unfashionable, by Tullian Tchividjiaan to read...quick, but very substantive...we are enjoying reading and discussing. Quote of the day, "God wants us to involve ourselves in the rehabilitation of hearts. souls and society."

Later, "The gospel reveals God's intention to transform this broken world, to miraculously make 'everything sad come untrue'. It triumphantly proclaims his power to undo everything evil, straighten out all that is crooked, and correct every injustice. In Jesus, God is at work regaining, restoring, and extending what Adam forfeited by his disobedience. The last Adam achieves for us no less than what the first Adam enjoyed, and much more. We won't simply go back to Eden, we'll enjoy a whole new incorruptible world." Amen
