Fall is a very good time to start something...school, diet, ministry or budget year, and blogging. I've never blogged before but have a deep desire to share my heart specifically with our counselors, past or present, partly because I have a counselor/kid at college and know some of the issues but mostly because I want you all to be encouraged, challenged and to be aware that we are thinking of you!
Just so you know, currently at work we are brainstorming and praying through theme ideas. As we begin this process, I am reminded of the 15+ years before that we have done this same thing. Each theme (the message) has done a work in the lives of not only the campers but the messengers. Themes like "Under Construction" , "Let the Games Begin", "Be At It Dude" and so many more all have significant deeper meaning than the catchy phrases themselves. What message does God want us to share with our 7,000 campers and their families? What does He want us to know about Him? The message dramatically impacts my life, as well. Please pray for us in this process.
I think about our theme from this past summer, "Highlights in the Making". I hope in your lifetime you will look back at summer '09 and say that your service at CAA was a Highlight in your life. I pray that the words on the pages of the curriculum will be encouragement to you even now as you are off to work or school. I also think about the Anchorsaway Curriculum that we spent so much time going through. Have you had opportunities to talk with anyone yet about their faith? Please share with me if you've had opportunities.
Let me know how I can be praying for you. Message me with your requests and I will immediately take them to the Lord. If you are struggling to match walk with faith, stop and ask why? Seek out friends that you know will hold you accountable..that will speak Truth to you.
Friends, remember the words of Jesus, "Let now your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; Believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?" Keep your perspective and your eyes looking up; this will keep you from stumbling.
We love you all. Thanks for allowing me to share with you.
